My husband and I had a pleasant one night stay at this Courtyard by Marriott in Silver Spring. The grounds, common areas, and room were clean. The staff we interacted with were friendly. Our room we were assigned to seemed to be newly renovated with a nice, spacious layout. It was the perfect room for our quick visit to Maryland.
We booked a room with two beds. Both beds were heavenly and super comfortable. We both had a great night sleep. We appreciated the ample counter/table space as well as the multiple outlets for charging and plugging in all of our electronics. The room was definitely equipped for the modern traveler and had more than enough room to navigate around our luggage and furniture comfortably. Though we only stayed one night, this room would have definitely been suitable for a longer visit.
The room was priced perfectly for the upkeep, quality, and size of the space. It's a modestly short drive to DC and Baltimore from this hotel, but expect to travel by car to visit any of the nearby touristy spots. We were happy with our brief visit to this Courtyard by Marriott in Silver Springs and would definitely stop here again if we found our way back to this area in the future.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2022
Great hotel to stay at. At check-in. Friendly, helpful and great suggestions about the area.
The lobby is set up really nice. Lounge areas for any occasions with tvs in each sitting area. Charging ports for devices. Heater for the chilly months.
The parking lot has electric car hookups. I guess in today's society you need them to get those great as well.
My room was very nice. This is the first hotel that had a small balcony with it which looked down in a court yard. Good for morning coffee outside.
This weekend it was a very quiet hotel and sometimes that is what one needs. When return to the area. This will be my hotel.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Gloria L.Wellington, FL02Jun 16, 2023
Just returned from a 4 night stay at Courtyard of Marriott in Silver Springs North and I was very disappointed. During my stay housekeeping came only once. Fortunately I had enough towels, but the bed wasn't made, trash wasn't emptied. I expect these things to be done and did not call the desk because I returned to the hotel late. Being the optimist that I am, I expected that the next day the issue would be addressed, but it wasn't. When I checked out, I was told that the hotel was not responsible because I had booked through Booking.com. So if you expect a clean room, I suggest you look elsewhere.

A pretty good place, it's convenient if you need to be in Silver Spring (i.e. for meetings with government). It's about 5-10 minutes' drive from the FDA. Unfortunately there really isn't much to do around the hotel, so you're kind of stuck there without a car.
The rooms are clean and the typical Courtyard Marriott design. They could use some updating. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are quiet. I had a room overlooking the parking lot.
In terms of other amenities, the restaurant/bar in the lobby is actually pretty good. They have a good selection of food and drink and the service is friendly and fast. The lobby itself is quite nice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa A.Catonsville, MD30203263Jun 20, 2019
Walking in and the lobby looks likes it has been newly renovated. It's clean and welcoming. There's a small restaurant and lounge across from the check-in. The coffee was ok but it is a hotel.
Rooms are nicely appointed and clean. Cleaning staff are helpful and keep the rooms tidy. They were responsive to requests for more linen and toiletries.
The hotel is closely located to the beltway and Route 29. It is a hike to the Silver Spring metro.
Limited options for restaurants unless you have a car.
Overall, a nice hotel with friendly staff.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sheila P.Wilmington, DE5622811Jun 23, 2017
Pros:
- Starbucks on site
- Accommodating to change rooms
Cons:
- When we checked in to our room we noticed the sink was not draining. Im not a fan of trying to wash up with water in the sink, especially when there's a dead spider in it that's not going down.
I did request a new room as we were in a rush to get ready and head out that we couldnt wait for the maintenance person to come. The hotel was accommodating and switched out our room.
- Aside from the dead spider in the sink there was a spider on the wall (different type) which I tried killing with my shoe. It fell down and ran behind the TV stand. I soon saw another on the wall and this time my husband killed it. I was just hoping that was the same one that ran away from me and not a relative.
- The tub was dirty. You could see a distinctive line of yellow.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth M.Midlothian, VA42285768Oct 29, 2018
Front desk staff was very nice and helpful. However the walls are very thin and it seemed like every door in the hallway was slammed at some point of the late night / early morning. The room was generally clean although there was stuff on the floor I was stepping on or that got stuck to my feet. The Porch and court areas are nice. The bed was comfortable. Shower pressure is good although the shower curtain was a little moldy smelling (hard to find a shower curtain on a hotel that is not smelly). The hotel has the dispensers of shampoo and conditioner-which I support to avoid waste - but for some reason I only had shampoo and shampoo which is problematic. Overall I would say the Definitely more of a family hotel than a business hotel.

One of my worst experiences at a Marriott Hotel. Inattentive staff, came down for breakfast at 6:30 and then sat waiting for someone to arrive for almost 1/2 hour. Then told no waitress in lobby, must go to counter.
Only issue is no one at counter until almost 7AM and breakfast starts at 6:30. And I asked front desk personnel 3 times where staff was and they said would be there soon. But made no effort to tell them I was waiting.
Total lack of customer concern or focus at front desk.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joe L.Astoria, Queens, NY1733691041Feb 24, 2018
If you are looking for a convenient place in the Maryland Suburbs of DC, this isn't it. It's not near a Metro station. It's on a road that leads to the Beltway. If you've ever driven on the Beltway, you know that it isn't the best highway (to put it mildly). It took my brother and I about 30 minutes to drive to the Georgetown area. The hotel is in an industrial area by car dealerships. Unless you like looking at the road or a Lexus dealership, the rooms don't have great views.
However, it is a decent hotel with clean rooms, and is cheaper than other hotels in the area. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful. The wifi is free, but can be slow. Basically, it is an oasis in a drab area.
Whoever did the plumbing must have a thing for water pressure. I like strong water pressure, so I was happy, but, as a warning, step back before you put the shower on.
All-in-all, my brother and I had a pleasant stay. If you are visiting the Maryland suburbs (My brother and I were visiting my nephew at University of Maryland), it's a great and economical place to stay.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dan T.Manhattan, NY968337Apr 23, 2019
Strong value.
I was in town visiting UMD and needed a place to stay. I was looking for a clean place, nice room but didn't want to pay too much.
This Courtyard checked all the boxes for me and then some. The staff from front desk, to housekeeping to maintenance were all very friendly.
My wifi was good, water pressure good, bathroom clean (no moldy shower curtain), the room was quiet and my stay included breakfast (had plenty of options.)
There are a few local restaurant options - all suitable for a quick bite. Think 5 Guys, Qdoba, etc..
Bottom Line: Excellent value. Clean, friendly place that's close UMD and the Beltway. This Courtyard served its purpose perfectly for me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
